Lenovo Launched Its New Lenovo Db720s Fibre Channel Switch To Expand Its Presence In The Global Storage Area Network (SAN) Market

Growing demand for efficient backup operations is propelling the growth of the global storage area network (SAN) market. Moreover, the increasing adoption of SANs among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is also expected to boost the growth of the market. Flexibility shared storage, and centralized control is some of the advantages of SAN which is again augmenting the growth of the storage area network (SAN) market. Additionally, rapid penetration of e-commerce websites across developing regions is expected to provide lucrative growth opportunities in the near future. According to the India Brand Equity Foundation, e-commerce has transformed the way business is done in India. The Indian E-commerce market is expected to grow to US$ 200 billion by 2026 from US$ 38.5 billion as of 2017. Much of the growth for the industry has been triggered by an increase in internet and smartphone penetration. One of the key aspects of a storage area network is the ability to quickly and easily use logical layers to attach virtualized storage devices to a physical server. This concept is known as virtualization, and there are many technologies available on the market today that allow users to create the virtualized storage area networks.

In January 2017, Hitachi Data Systems introduced its next-generation line-up storage system Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage (AMS) 2000 Series.

Asia Pacific is expected to lead the global storage area network (SAN) market and this is attributed to the continuous innovation by key players in the region. For instance, in December 2020, Lenovo launched its new Lenovo DB720S Fibre Channel Switch. The Lenovo DB720S Fibre Channel Switch provides 32-Gbps and 64-Gbps storage networking that the company says delivers higher speeds and 50 percent lower latency compared to previous fiber channel switch generations.

A storage area network or simply storage network is basically a computer network that gives access to centralized, block-level data storage over Ethernet cards. The primary advantage of this network design is that it makes it possible for two computers to connect to each other over a network without requiring an exchange of resources such as IP addresses or even file systems. It also allows for fast sharing of files and applications between the computers, which can lead to increased productivity. On the other hand, a storage area network can be implemented with both dedicated and multiple port networks to support file systems and storage.
