Champagne Remains One Of The Most Popular Alcoholic Beverage Due To Its Distinctive Taste And Unique Method Of Production
Champagne is a popular French sparkling wine brand. The word Champagne comes from the region in which it is originally made - Champagne. It's illegal to label any drink other than Champagne as "Champagne" unless it's made in the Champagne region of France and belongs to the proper appellation. There are many variations of Champagne, so we'll only discuss those types of Champagne commonly found in the U.S. One of the most well-known types of Champagne is actually the traditional Champagne. This is the lowest-priced type of champagne. It uses the same grapes as the traditional type, although instead of using them during fermentation (the part that makes the bubbles), they are stored during storage. They're then later used when the bubbles burst to give the bubbly effect. The result is very carbonated champagne, usually with high alcohol content.
Another version of Champagne is called "white champagne." It has no bubbles and doesn't use any grapes at all. Instead, it's made with a type of sparkling wine that doesn't have any residual sugar. Since it has no bubbles, it's generally less carbonated than traditional champagne. However, due to its low alcohol content, it's also usually less refreshing than the traditional sparkling wine. "Blanc de Noirs" is an alternative name for "black champagne," which is champagne that is made without any alcohol whatsoever. Since it has no alcohol, it's sweeter than all other kinds of champagne and typically even has less residual sugar.
It contains no residual yeast, so it has no sweetness, although some people claim that it has more flavor than traditional champagne. As it does not have bubbles, it has a very subtle and pleasant flavor. A lower alcohol alternative to this "Blanc de Noirs" is called "zero dosage Champagne." Zero dosage means there's no alcohol in the drink; it's simply a lower concentration of alcohol than regular champagne. Most places will sell it under this name since there's no legal definition for the term. The lower alcohol content means it's sweeter, and there's a reduced risk of people having an allergic reaction to it (although there are still possibilities).
