Plant-Based Meat Market Is Expanding Rapidly With Nestle Introducing Plant-Based Meat Line In China Including Sausages, Burgers, Nuggets, And Mince


Plant-Based Meats are created to resemble and taste like actual meat but are made from all-natural ingredients. Plant-based foods are usually healthier than traditional animal-made meat because they are low in calories and saturated fat. Common ingredients in plant-based foods include vegetable protein, coconut oil, beet pulp, and vegetable juice. A variety of different cooking methods can be used to create mouth-watering dishes using these healthy foods. As far as regional impact is concerned, North America seems to be gaining significant traction in the plant-based meat market. This is typically due to growing consumption of meatless meat products and rising consumer awareness regarding the potential risks associated with the consumption of meat. On the contrary, Europe is exhibiting lucrative signs with growing trend of veganism in the region.

Over the years, key players in the food industry have focused on introducing innovative plant-based meat products. These key companies are laying emphasis on capitalizing on increasing vegan population. Recently, in April 2021, The Vegetarian Butcher launched plant-based meat products that are analogs for beef slices, beefsteak, meatballs, pork slices, minced meat, and chicken nugget. Therefore, such factors could potentially augment growth of the plant-based meat market.

The typical Paleo diet recommends plenty of plant-based meat and fresh vegetables. The meat is easier to digest for most people so they can tolerate it much easier. However, plant-based meats such as turkey, chicken, duck, and others are usually easier to digest. Because plant-based foods are usually lower calorie and lower in fat than their more-traditional counterparts, they are much healthier. That being said, there are certain issues that could potentially limit growth of the market. For instance, some people are allergic to plant-based meat sources including soy or wheat. Besides, high production prices as compared to traditional meat can impede growth of the plant-based meat market.

Since plant-based proteins like hemp seeds, coconut meat, rice, and other common ingredients are used to make the recipes, they closely mimic the texture and taste of traditional ground beef, pork, turkey, chicken, or fish. Consumers are increasingly becoming aware of the health benefits offered by plant-based meat over animal meat. Plant-based meat can be healthier since they contain no cholesterol at all, while at the same time also contain high amounts of fiber. Besides, plant-based meat has less risk of heart disease and improves well-being. Hence, these factors can stimulate growth of the plant-based meat market in the near future. Recently, in December 2020, Nestle launched a plant-based meat line in China including sausages, burgers, nuggets, and mince.
